These are annual (gender-specific) events hosted in partnership with colleges and universities. Youth, ages 8-14, from the Metopolitan Detroit area gather to explore careers, consider post-secondary options, and make connections that will improve their math literacy and proficiency skills on college campuses. While the conference actively recruits youth who are academically at-risk, all youth are welcome! The conference attracts youth from 20+ different zip codes with a variety of interest and skill levels. Educators, businesses, and community agencies partner to help facilitate these dynamic conferences. Each volunteer or presenter invests 1-6 hours of their time and resources to motivating and encouraging Metro Detroit youth with their academics and career pathways. Baker College of Auburn Hills serve as host to a strong partnership of community leaders gathering to Help Youth Succeed with Math for the third consecutive year. Conferences are offered at NO COST to participants. Group registration opens Monday, August 30, 2010. Individual registrations open Thursday, September 2, 2010. Surveys, taste-tests, entrepreneuerial & construction challenges have been a few of the main attractions. Parents are engaged in thought- provoking mini sessions led by industry professionals (counselors, finance, etc.). Yes, there are special sessions just for parents. Your donations help keep our conferences free for participants.
Community, business, and university partnerships have been extremely beneficial in hosting each event at no cost to participants.
